"The Salt Riot"

The tax riot started June 1st, 1648. Alexiei I. returning to Moscow from a trip to
Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra, an angry riot was gathered around the tsar and was complaining about boyars and prikaz officials. The body guards of royalty started removing the crowd away from the tsar. On June 2 most of the Streltsy join the angry riot in a demand to get head of Zemsky Prikaz and the Moscow police department to suurender. On June 6, sort of caved in and promised to raise salaries. Demand became narrow and did not meet certain requirements. On, October 22, Boris Morozov was appointed head of the Russian goverment. The riot ended and peace was once resumed and demands were met/
